After what has been my most stressful week in teaching the weekend has finally arrived. A new world lay ahead from Monday as schools in the UK are redesignated from ‘education providers to ‘care providers for the foreseeable future. Exams have been cancelled and rotas created to ensure not all staff can become infected at the same time put into place.
From Monday we will be looking after those children whose parents are designated as ‘keyworkers’ for the country. How long will this continue? We don’t know but there is talk of it lasting till at least the summer break in July.
While I agree with the need for this I’m now fearful that an outbreak in school could end up putting all our keyworkers into isolation at the same time.
