Birthday Week Running
Well, I reached my 50th year last week — the reason I embarked on my 50k Ultra this year. I was very lucky to spend the week down in Cornwall, so enjoyed running around the Tamar Valley. Running anywhere else always reminds me how flat Cheshire is. I completed 4 runs in Cornwall.
Sunday — a long run of 8.5 miles (13.68 km). This was from the lodge we were staying at and around the Tamar valley. Beautiful views and it was reasonably warm! https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/18290562486
Tuesday — A Tempo run from the Tamar Trails centre — similar to their Parkrun. Also, my first run as a 50-year-old. I am not sure if I found this one hard due to being 50 or the hills! https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/18307906469
Wednesday — A 3.5mile (5.63 km) easy route. We ended up doing 10k. While this was a great route due to the steady hills, it was all road, which we found disappointing. https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/18317457246
Friday–We squeezed in another 10k run while we were here — this was definitely the hilliest, wettest and windiest run we did — about 3 miles (4.83 km) downhill and 3 miles (4.83 km) back up! Hard work but very enjoyable. https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/18335215819
Back home on Saturday, and we did a full 10mile (16.09 km) run using local, unknown, footpaths on Sunday– We went local due to the predicted bad weather but were lucky in that it didn’t strike until the afternoon. This run was very muddy and flat and was harder than expected, not due to the distance, but the route finding! https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/18352612650
Overall, very pleased with the week’s run and my fitness at this point.
